Bio
My path in business began when I was born into a family of entrepreneurs in the charming Southern city of Mobile, Alabama. My grandmother was an independent woman who started her own neighborhood grocery store there in the 1950s. It was in that store that my parents met as children, and that meeting led to a lifelong marriage that saw them open and operate three successful businesses of their own.
Growing up in those businesses, I learned the right ways to trade: work hard; genuinely connect with customers; show & receive kindness; and most importantly, take care of the people who work hard for you. Those and so many more invaluable lessons prepared me well for life, work, and to help you with your needs.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Alabama and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Since 2014, I have held the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). I am also an HRCI subject matter expert (SME), participating in the formulation and review of questions for its rigorous certification exams.
I have over 25 years of direct professional experience in a variety of fields such as veterinary medicine; accounting & professional advisory services; medical billing, coding, & transcription; scientific services; auto insurance; and retail services. I pride myself on making sound business decisions that keep people—you and your stakeholders—at top priority. My philosophy is that every organization can and should be both pro-business and pro-employee. It only takes the willingness to be both, and it pays off.
Altacrest Consulting
I started my consulting practice after realizing that my years of diverse experience can be valuable to others. I have a special interest in assisting small to medium organizations who do not always have the resources to have a dedicated HR professional on staff.
In my coaching practice, I counsel staff, management, and executive-level professionals in life and work matters, approaching every situation with empathy, good humor, and resourcefulness. Helping people navigate the sometimes rough waters of life & work is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. Quite simply, helping people is my passion!
Since 2004, I have lived and worked in the Greater Washington-Baltimore area, where I share my life with my partner and our 4-year-old imperious French bulldog. In my spare time, I am a huge foodie, traveler, and trivia geek, and an unabashed Francophile & Anglophile.
Let’s talk about how I can help you and/or your organization be the best it can be! Book a free 20-minute introductory call with me today to get started!
